Even when the light is low, with a high 1600 ISO, optical image stabilization, and Low Light Mode you can still get great photos without using the built-in flash. The Canon A3000 IS is very cheap. More likely to take it along because if gets damaged or lost, or encounters the uneconomical-to-repair “lens error” that seems to afflict all brands, it’s not a big deal.
